GlenWyvis is probably the only Scottish distillery owned by a local community.

Following the planning application being approved, over £2.5m was raised through a community giveaway that has been enjoyed by over 3,500 local residents. The distillery is situated in the valley of Ben Nevis Mountain in the Highlands and has a single pair of stills that can produce around 140,000 litres of spirit per year. The first edition of the single malt, exclusively for shareholders, was released before Christmas 2021. GlenWyvis Batch #02/18 is a blend of 3-year-old spirits aged in Tennessee whiskey casks (60%), Oloroso sherry casks (25%) and refill casks (15%). It will go on sale in summer 2022 in an 8,000-bottle run.

Aroma: barley malt, lemons and limes, green apples, freshly cut grass, white pepper, notes of vanilla and honey.

Palate: malty, green apples, gooseberries, sour grapes, lemon sorbet, vanilla, butter cookies and a hint of oak.

Finish : medium long, with notes of green fruits, walnuts, vanilla, a bit of honey, hay and oak.
