Kentucky Owl St. Patrick's Edition celebrates the centuries-old bond between whiskey producers in Ireland and Kentucky.
Its creators are John Rhea, Kentucky Owl blender, and Louise McGuane, creator of JJ Corry Irish Whiskey. The creators' brief was to "create a whiskey with a fruity profile that is typical of Ireland, without losing the character of Kentucky Owl bourbon." After testing samples from dozens of barrels and different blends, straight bourbons from different producers (both rye and wheat bourbons) were selected, aged from 4 to 11 years. Kentucky Owl St. Patrick's Edition hit the market in February 2022, bottled at 50% abv.
Nose : caramel, vanilla, buttered cornbread, honey, roasted peanuts, milk chocolate, some red berries, a pinch of spice and oak.
Palate: vanilla pudding, milk fudge, caramel, milk chocolate, orange peel, red currants, blackberries, white pepper and charred oak.
Finish: long, with notes of vanilla, chocolate, multi-berry jam, orange peel, pepper and oak.
