- The Famous Grouse whisky takes its name from red grouse, Scotland’s national game bird.
Product description
Famous Grouse Whisky is a tribute to Scotland's most popular game bird, the red grouse.
The blend, originally called The Grouse, was developed in 1896 by Matthew Gloag, shortly after taking over the family company Matthew Gloag & Son, founded by his grandfather at the beginning of the century. Matthew’s daughter, Philippa, had a significant artistic hand in the blend – she was the author of the drawing of the grouse on the label. Today, Famous Grouse is a strong member of the Edrington Group portfolio, with annual sales of over 3 million cases. In the new century, the owners have introduced several new versions, including blended malt, blended grain and wood finishes. One of these is the Famous Grouse Sherry Cask Finish “Smooth and Rich” presented here.
