Fred Laing’s Old Particular series debuted in September 2013, shortly after the division of the assets of Douglas Laing & Co. between the two Laing brothers.
It is the equivalent of the Old Malt Cask range, which is owned by the newly formed Hunter Laing & Co and headed by Stewart. Old Particular comprises single malt and single grain whiskies bottled in single cask. The Glen Garioch 12 year old on display here was distilled in February 2010 and aged in a refill butt (DL 15567). Bottled in March 2022 at 48.4% abv, natural colour and unchill-filtered in an edition limited to 473 bottles.
Aroma: barley malt, honey, milk fudge, walnuts, raspberries, cranberries for meat, orange peel, notes of white pepper, hay and oak.
Palate : honey, toffee, vanilla pudding, sugared peanuts, cinnamon-dusted apple pie, multi-berry jam, lemongrass and oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of vanilla, honey, mocha, mixed berries, a touch of cinnamon and oak.
