Fred Laing’s Old Particular series debuted in September 2013, shortly after the division of the assets of Douglas Laing & Co. between the two Laing brothers.
It is the equivalent of the Old Malt Cask series, which is owned by the newly formed Hunter Laing & Co. and headed by Stewart. Old Particular includes single malt and single grain whiskies bottled in single cask. The Tamdhu 14 year old on display here was distilled in February 2008 and aged in a refill hogshead cask (DL 15642). Bottled in March 2022 at natural colour, 48.4% abv and non-chill-filtered, in an edition limited to 355 bottles.
Nose : barley malt, vanilla, brown sugar, buttered toast, orange jam with ginger, allspice and a bit of oak.
Palate : sweet breakfast cereal, vanilla pudding, butter cookies, orange peel, cinnamon, candied ginger and oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of vanilla, candy, golden syrup, cinnamon and toasted oak.
