Product description
Gwalarn Whisky debuted in the fall of 2021 as the first offering from Celtic Whisky Distillerie (originally Glann-ar-Mor Distillerie) in 20 years.
Founded in 1999 by Jean Donnay, the Brittany-based company produces two single malts: Glann-ar-Mor and Kornog (the latter with a smoky and peaty profile). In 2020, it was acquired by Maison Villevert. Gwalarn whisky is the creation of owner Jean-Sebastian Robicquet and his cellar master Aël Guégan, blended from distillates from local distilleries. Gwalarn is the first whisky to be designated a “Celtic Whisky Blend,” its name translating from the Breton word for “Northwest Wind.”
Nose: sea breeze and shells, sweet cereals, vanilla, apples, pears, grapes, orange peel, traces of cocoa and peat.
Palate: ripe apples and pears, gooseberries, mirabelle plums, vanilla, honey, caramel with sea salt and a fleeting trace of smoke in the background.
Finish: medium long, peaty, with notes of orchard fruit, honey, vanilla, sea salt and a hint of peat.
