Product description
Fèis Ìle (Islay Festival of Whisky and Music) is an annual event organised by the island's residents since 1986.
It promotes Islay, its culture and historical heritage. Each local distillery participates in the event, usually honouring it with a special edition of whisky. In addition to the distilleries, independent whisky publishers are also actively involved. Douglas Laing & Co. is offering a special edition of its popular blended malt, Big Peat, made exclusively from malts produced on the island (previous editions have included Caol Ila, Bowmore, Ardbeg and Port Ellen as the main ingredients). This edition of Big Peat's Beach BBQ, bottled at 54.2% abv, was released in 3,000 bottles and commemorates Fèis Ìle 2022. On the label, our favourite "brand ambassador" is trying to keep the embers of a barbecue burning in the pouring rain.
Nose: peat smoke, grilled steaks, salty breeze, honey, caramel, sugared peanuts, lemon peel, red currants, traces of burnt rubber and oak.
Palate: peat, smoky grill, barbecue sauce, caramel, milk chocolate, vanilla, lemon pepper, smoked plums, burnt toast and a drop of tar.
Finish: long, with notes of peat smoke, grilled meats, caramel, sea salt, lemon peel, pepper and charred oak.
