Fred Laing’s Old Particular series debuted in September 2013, shortly after the division of the assets of Douglas Laing & Co. between the two Laing brothers.
It is the equivalent of the Old Malt Cask series, which is owned by the newly formed Hunter Laing & Co and headed by Stewart. Old Particular comprises single malt and single grain whiskies bottled in single cask. The Royal Brackla 12 year old presented here was distilled in June 2009 and aged in a virgin oak hogshead cask (DL 15434). Bottled in November 2021 with natural colour, 48.4% ABV and non-chill filtration in an edition limited to 369 bottles.
Nose: vanilla, caramel, fruit candies, raspberries, strawberries, roasted peanuts, a hint of cinnamon and cloves and toasted oak.
Palate: vanilla cream, brown sugar, milk fudge, multi-fruit jam, peach tart, cappuccino, cinnamon and toasted oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of strawberry sorbet, vanilla, brown sugar, sweet bread, cinnamon and oak.
