Product description
The Esperance Distillery is the oldest rum distillery in Guadeloupe.
It was founded in 1890 on the island of Basse-Terre, also called Karukera in the old Caribbean language. It is also the smallest distillery in Guadeloupe. The master distiller there is Francois Longueteau. On his estate there is a plantation of two varieties of sugar cane, including blue cane, from which Karukera rum is made. Rum is produced here from fresh sugar cane juice, the so-called rhum agricole.
Karukera Christophe Colomb 1493 is a blend of the finest rums from the Esperance distillery, aged in both American and French oak barrels for an undisclosed period. A limited edition released to commemorate the discovery of Guadeloupe by Christopher Columbus on November 4, 1493.
