Boondocks Spirit Company is a subsidiary of Royal Wine Corporation, a producer of alcoholic beverages whose roots date back to the early years of Baron Filip Herzog.

Boondocks whiskey is the creation of Dave Scheurich, retired manager of Woodford Reserve Distillery. Formally, Boondocks meets the definition of light whiskey – distilled from a mash of 80-90% corn (the other grains are rye and barley malt) at over 160 proof and aged in refill barrels. Boondocks American whiskey is available in cask strength and the 47.5% abv presented here. Years ago, when distilleries were located near grain suppliers, city dwellers referred to remote rural areas as “Boondocks”.

Nose : cornflakes, caramel, vanilla, sugar cookies, white chocolate, dried apples and pears, notes of cinnamon and oak.

Palate : buttered popcorn, caramel, vanilla, cornbread, cherries, apples, white pepper, pinch of cinnamon and oak.

Finish : medium long, with notes of popcorn, vanilla, caramel, honey, cinnamon and oak.
