Product description
Bourbon 1792 is a product of Barton 1792 Distillery, owned by the Sazerac Company of New Orleans since 2009.
It debuted in 2003 as 1792 Ridgewood Reserve, a year later the name was changed to 1792 Ridgemount Reserve, and has been on the market under its current name since 2015 (the 1792 refers to the year Kentucky became the 15th state to join the Union). The company doesn’t reveal the mash bill, but we’ve heard unofficially that it’s 74% corn, 18% rye, and 8% malted barley. The Full Proof edition presented here joined the lineup in May 2016. We’re not sure if “full proof” here means “cask strength,” but it most likely refers to the strength at which the fresh distillate hits the barrel (in this case, 125 proof, or 62.5% abv). Jim Murray awarded this bourbon the title of “Whiskey of the Year 2020.”
