Product description
Hartley Bay is a somewhat mysterious brand of Canadian whisky produced for the German producer and importer of alcoholic beverages, Heinz Eggert GmbH.
It is distilled from 100% rye at the Alberta Distillery and aged for three years in American oak barrels, then finished for another two years in Caribbean rum barrels. Alberta Distillery, based in Calgary, has been in operation since 1946 and is now owned by Beam Suntory. Equipped with pot stills and column stills, it produces excellent rye whiskey. The first editions of WhistlePig whiskey were based on distillates from Alberta.
Aroma : sweet and spicy, fresh wholemeal bread, caramel, vanilla, coconut water, baked apples, cinnamon and a pinch of fennel.
Taste : buttered wholemeal bread, sugared peanuts, vanilla, honey, cocoa powder, gooseberries, lemon pepper, cinnamon and candied ginger.
Finish : medium long, with notes of caramel, vanilla, stewed fruit, cinnamon, dried herbs and oak.
