Product description
Moon Import, founded in 1980 in Genoa by Pepi Mongiardino, quickly gained a reputation as an importer and distributor of high-end wines and spirits; the “Half Moon” series debuted two years later.
At the urging of the legendary Silvano Samaroli († 2017), Mongiardino focused on bottling single cask whiskies, usually from private owners. In time, he became the official distributor of Bruichladdich, Tamnavulin and Tullibardine. In addition to the quality of the distillates themselves, the Moon Import editions are characterized by unique labels, often by Pepi Mongiardino inspired by old engravings. The Laphroaig presented here, distilled in 1990 (the distillery belonged to the Allied Distillers group at that time), spent 10 years in cask no. 11684. The whisky was bottled at 46% abv in 2000 in an edition of 320 bottles.
