In November 2019, Bunnahabhain Distillery released the limited edition New Acquaintance, the successor to the legendary Auld Acquaintance from 2002.
The whisky, distilled in December 1988, celebrated the first twenty years of the new era, and the 400-bottle edition sold out in a flash. A year later, we had another New Acquaintance, this time Bunnahabhain, distilled in 1986 and aged for 34 years in Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks. The whisky was bottled at cask strength (41.5% abv) without chill filtration, and 650 bottles were released. The Bunnahabhain Distillery was founded in 1881 and is now owned by Distell Group, and has two pairs of stills that can produce 2.7 million litres of distillate per year.
