Product description
Fèis Ìle (Islay Festival of Whisky and Music) is an annual event organised by the island's residents since 1986.
It promotes Islay, its culture and historical heritage. Each local distillery takes an active part in the event, usually honouring it with a limited edition whisky. In 2014, Bowmore, the oldest still-working distillery on the island (founded in 1779), released a special edition of just 300 bottles. The contents of a fresh bourbon cask (American oak) and a red wine barrique (French oak) filled in 1989 were blended and bottled at cask strength (53.3% abv). The entire run of 300 bottles was sold on the first day of the festival before 2pm. (Producer's tasting note.)
