In 2018, Signatory Vintage Whisky Company celebrated its 30th anniversary.
The company was founded in 1988 by brothers Andrew and Brian Symington and over the years has become one of the leading independent publishers and distributors of whisky, respected by consumers. Signatory has a tradition, highly valued by whisky lovers, of labelling each cask strength edition with information on the type and number of cask, the date it was filled, bottled and the number of bottles to which the release is limited. The anniversary edition presented here contains Bowmore whisky distilled on 21st June 1972 and aged in a refilled sherry butt (no. 3882) for 42 years. In the anniversary year, its contents amounted to 246 bottles of cask strength whisky (46.7% abv).
Nose : a combination of sweetness and smoke, raisins, dried plums and cherries, cinnamon, cloves, a touch of anise, walnuts, notes of leather, wax, sherry and oak.
Palate : rich and elegant, peat smoke, blood oranges, grapefruit, cantaloupe, licorice, roasted almonds, herbal mix, cocoa powder, cinnamon, notes of pepper and oak.
Finish : long and well-balanced, peat smoke, tropical fruits, herbs and spices, all in perfect harmony.
