Product description
Okinawa-based Masahiro Distillery began operation in 1883, founded by Shobun Higa.
His father, Shozoku Higa, was a master chef to the ruler of the Ryukyu Kingdom, and through his connections he obtained a license to produce awamori, a traditional Okinawan spirit distilled from rice. In 2018, Masayasu Higa, a representative of the eighth generation of the family, developed the formula for Okinawa gin, with which he achieved considerable success. The company's first whisky, Masahiro Pure Malt, hit the market a year later and enjoyed moderate success. The one presented here, described by the producer as a "world blended malt whisky", is a blend of its own distillates and "the best malt whiskies in the world". The components were aged for 11 years in bourbon barrels, and their one-year marriage took place in Oloroso sherry barrels.
