The history of Dictador rum begins in 1751, when Severo Arango Ferro arrived in Cartagena de Indias to control and strengthen trade between Spain and its overseas colony.
With his knowledge and strength, he quickly earned the nickname Dictador. Enchanted by the taste and elegance of the rum produced, he became the largest producer and seller of the drink. 160 years later, in 1913, a descendant of Dictador, founded Destileria Columbiana, becoming years later the top rum producer in the Caribbean region. The third generation of the Arango family formed the Dictador Europe project starting the international expansion of the brand.
