Mossburn Distillers & Blenders is a subsidiary of the Dutch group Marussia Beverages BV founded in 2013. It is the owner of the Torabhaig Distillery on the Isle of Skye (distilling since January 2017) and a whisky publisher.
Mossburn Vintage Casks is a small series of single cask Scotch malts. The tenth in the series was Royal Brackla, distilled in 2007, aged for 11 years in a hogshead cask and bottled on 23rd August 2018 at cask strength (57.4% abv) and without chill filtration. Built in 1974, Auchroisk Distillery is owned by Diageo and equipped with four pairs of stills produces almost 6 million litres of distillate per year, most of which is "consumed" by the company's blends.
Aroma : barley malt, apples, pears, caramel, vanilla, acacia honey, sweet bread, walnuts, a mixture of fresh herbs and light oak notes.
Taste: slightly alcoholic, vanilla pudding, milk fudge, honey, candy, apples, white tea, cinnamon buns, a bit of herbs and a light bitterness of oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of vanilla, honey, brown sugar, a touch of white pepper and oak tannins.
