Product description
Blackened American Whiskey debuted in 2018 as a collaboration between Metallica and David Pickerell, master distiller of WhistlePig.
Following Pickerell's death on November 1, 2018, the whiskey has been produced by Rob Dietrich, master distiller of Stranahan's Distillery. In August 2021, Blackened expanded with the "Master of Whiskey series," the first edition of which was Blackened x Willett, the work of Bob Dietrich and Drew Kulsveen, master distiller of Willett Distillery. It uses rye whiskey, which after maturing in American oak barrels for an average of 6.5 years, was transferred to Madeira barrels for another 14 weeks. The final maturation took place to the music of Metallica, and low-frequency sounds were intended to accelerate the interaction of the distillate with the wood.
