The Samuels family, founders of Maker's Mark Distillery, have been actively supporting local charities and higher utility associations for years.

Each year, the distillery releases a limited edition of the bourbon, with the proceeds going to the aforementioned organizations. The 2013 edition was dedicated to Rick Pitino, the coach of the University of Louisville men's basketball team. The Louisville basketball team won the university league, and their Rick Pitino was inducted into the prestigious Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The edition consisted of 12,600 bottles bearing the coach's likeness, and the profit from the sale was donated to the construction of a new academic center on the basketball team's campus.

Aroma: honey, vanilla, dry orange peel, dried dates, raisins, milk chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg and oak.

Palate : sweet, vanilla, milkshake, honey, cocoa powder, peaches, raisins, roasted nuts, notes of tobacco and oak.

Finish : long, with notes of caramel, vanilla, honey, orange peel and oak.
