Product description
WhistlePig is the brainchild of one-time banker and investor Raj Bhakta and former Maker's Mark master distiller Dave Pickerell.
The debut of the whiskey in 2010 caused an avalanche of positive reviews, and the creators of the success did not hide the fact that it comes from the Canadian Alberta Distillery owned by Jim Beam and is distilled from 100% rye. In an interview, they even joked that they "fulfilled their life's duty by saving a priceless drink from being killed in a blend". However, the gentlemen's mission was to distill their own whiskey, from rye grown on the WhistlePig farm and age it in barrels from locally grown oaks. The mission was fulfilled in the fall of 2015 and within a few years we should be tasting 100% Vermont Rye Whiskey. David Pickerell died in 2018, and two years later a minority share in the distillery was purchased by Moët Hennessy.
