Niwakami is a whisky brand from the portfolio of San Foods Company Ltd.
The company was founded in 1976, its headquarters is in Nirasaki in Yamanashi Prefecture, and it also has branches in Vietnam and Thailand. "Niwakami" translates from Japanese to "Garden of God", and is also the unofficial name of the picturesque region at the foot of Mount Fuji. Niwakami whisky is the creation of the company's president's son, Atsushi Tanaka, a great lover of this drink. His CV also includes the Vietnamese Tanaka whisky and Kirifuji gin. Niwakami is advertised as a "pure malt", but we have heard that its ingredients include whisky distilled from Vietnamese black rice.
Aroma: oatmeal, white bread toast, brown sugar, banana peel, traces of apricot and dried flowers.
Palate : cereal-grassy, breakfast cereals, vanilla, brown sugar, apples, peaches, notes of hay and oak.
Finish : not too long, with notes of cereal, brown sugar, granola bar, hay and oak.
