Product description
The original Wolfburn Distillery was founded by William Smith in Thurso, in 1821.
Within the next few years it became a significant producer of malt whisky with annual output of 125,000 liters of spirit. It ceased production in the 1860s and about 150 years later was brought back to life on site located roughly 350 meters from the original one. The new distillery is equipped with single pair of stills and can produce 135,000 liters of spirit annually. Wolfburn single malt was launched in 2016 and earned good reviews. Here we have Wolfburn Love Potion, whisky distilled in 2016, aged predominantly in Oloroso sherry butts with little addition of fresh bourbon barrels and released for 2022 Valentine’s Day.
Nose: distinctive sherry notes, malted barley, vanilla, caramel, apples, nectarines, dark grapes, allspice, dash of black pepper and a touch of oak.
Palate: black cherries, plums, pears, honey, caramel, vanilla cream, milk chocolate, hints of cinnamon and nutmeg and toasted oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of vanilla, caramel, orchard fruits, dash of mixed spice and oak tannins.
