The Single Cask Ltd. was founded in 2010 by Ben Curtis (initially operating as Malt Vault Company).
It has offices in London and Singapore, and in addition to bottling whisky, it has a bar and a retail store. The company offers only single cask whisky, bottled in its natural colour, at cask strength and without chill filtration. The Benrinnes presented here, distilled on 16 January 2008, finished in a shiraz barrique (no. 300306), was bottled on 22 June 2021 in an edition of 252 bottles. The Benrinnes Distillery (founded in 1826) is based in Speyside. The plant is owned by Diageo, and equipped with six stills, produces 3.5 million litres of distillate per year. Almost all of the production goes into Diageo blends.
Aroma: fruity-wine, black cherries, plums, blackberries, roasted nuts, black pepper, allspice, notes of forest floor and potpourri.
Palate: barley malt, vanilla, fruit jelly, toast with multi-berry jam, toffee, milk chocolate, black pepper and a pinch of nutmeg.
Finish : medium long, with notes of mixed berries, raisins, milk fudge, pepper and oak tannins.
