The Single Cask Ltd. was founded in 2010 by Ben Curtis (initially operating as Malt Vault Company).
It has offices in London and Singapore, and in addition to bottling whisky, it has a bar and a retail store. The company offers whisky exclusively in single cask versions, bottled in their natural colour, at cask strength and without chill filtration. The Blair Athol presented here, distilled on 24 April 2011, spent 8 years in an American oak hogshead cask, no. 302037, was bottled on 25 February 2020 in an edition of 302 bottles. The Blair Athol Distillery (founded in 1798) is located in the southern Highlands. The plant is owned by Diageo, and equipped with two pairs of stills, produces 2.8 million litres of distillate per year. Blair Athol single malt is the heart of Bell's blends.
Nose : toffee, vanilla, barley malt, grapefruit, oranges, lime jam, ginger, white pepper, pine needles and resin, potpourri and oak notes.
Palate: honey, toffee, cotton candy, white chocolate, caramel, grapes, pears, pink grapefruit, white pepper, a dash of cloves and toasted oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of toffee, honey, sweet bread, citrus, white pepper, a touch of mint and oak.
