Product description
Ardbeg 17 years old is an edition to which some of us have a very emotional relationship.
It is hard to believe that in the 1990s Ardbeg Distillery was struggling to survive using a fraction of its modest production capacity and if it had not been taken over by Glenmorangie plc in 1997, the name Ardbeg would probably only appear in whisky history monographs today. Ardbeg 17 years old debuted the same year, marking the beginning of the current “Ardbeg-mania”.
Nose: A combination of sea kelp, iodine, peat smoke and sweet citrus and vanilla notes.
Taste: rich and multi-layered, under a cloak of peat and smoke, a lot of sweet notes, caramel, vanilla, and behind them a spicy layer, a pinch of salt and pepper.
Finish: long, slightly oily, the initial fruity sweetness is replaced by oak and pepper notes.
