Product description
Glenrothes Distillery, based in Rothes, Speyside, was built in 1878 and commenced operation in May the following year.
It is a large distillery, equipped with five pairs of stills, and can distill 5.6 million liters of alcohol per year. Glenrothes single malt has never been a category sales leader, although it has its devoted admirers, and blenders award it the rank of "top dressing". It is a component of several significant blends, the most important of which are Famous Grouse and Cutty Sark. The Glenrothes presented here is a proposal of Douglas Laing & Co. in the popular Old Particular series. The whisky distilled in February 2007 spent over 14 years in a refilled hogshead cask no. DL 15242, and was bottled without chill filtration at 48.4% abv in September 2021 in an edition of 379 bottles.
