Founded in 1988 by Andrew and Brian Symington, Signatory Vintage Whisky Company is today a leading independent publisher and distributor of whisky, widely respected by consumers.
Signatory has a tradition, much appreciated by whisky lovers, of labeling each cask strength edition with information about the cask number, type, date of filling, bottling and the number of bottles to which the release is limited. The Laphroaig presented here was distilled on 14th February 20021 and aged in a refilled sherry butt no. 319 for 18 years. Bottled for La Maison du Whisky at cask strength (59.3% abv) on 21st August 2019 in an edition limited to 606 bottles.
Aroma : intense peat smoke, burnt rubber, smoked fish, sea salt, black pepper, pears, plums, dried herbs, cloves, a bit of cocoa powder and a drop of tar.
Palate: peat smoke, iodine, seaweed salad, smoked seafood, apples, pears, vanilla, honey, milk chocolate, grilled pineapple, lemongrass, a touch of ginger and oak.
Finish : long, with notes of peat smoke, iodine, salted nuts and almonds, herbal mix, lemon peel, ginger and tobacco.
