The Meukow House was founded in 19th Century. In 1850, Auguste-Christophe and Gustav Meukow, two brothers from Silesia, were sent to France by Tsar Alexander II of Russia with orders to secure supply of cognac for the court.
After several voyages, they decided to set up a commercial office in the town of Cognac and founded A.C Meukow & Co. on August 1, 1862. In 1979 Meukow became part of the Compagnie de Guyenne founded in 1969 by Michel Coste. Since 1993 Meukow cognacs are presented in unique “feline bottles” adorned with a panther, which became an icon for the brand. Meukow VS is a blend of various vintages from all six cognac regions aged for a minimum of two years (usually longer). The cognac scored Double Gold at the 2016 World Spirits Competition.
Nose: fruity and pleasantly spicy, oranges, apricots, ripe grapes, vanilla, bitter almonds, licorice and little oak.
Palate: candied citrus fruits, vanilla, raisins, dried apricots, dark chocolate, licorice, nutmeg and oak tannins.
Finish: medium long, with notes of sweet dried fruits, licorice, cocoa, dash of allspice and oak.
