The Single Malts of Scotland, a whisky series from the Elixir Distillers portfolio, debuted in 2005. The company was founded by brothers Sukhinder and Raj Singh, whose lifelong passion is whisky.
Their online store, The Whisky Exchange, has been operating since 1999 and now offers almost 8,000 spirits (in 2021, its new owner was Pernod Ricard). The company is also the publisher of the Elements of Islay series, which includes the Port Askaig brand. The Single Malts of Scotland series features whiskies bottled with natural color, cask strength and without chill filtration, usually in single cask versions. The Glen Elgin presented here, distilled on November 6, 2009, spent over a decade in a hogshead cask no. 807777, and was bottled at cask strength (58.8% abv) on July 29, 2021 in an edition of 238 bottles.
Aroma : spring meadow, pears, honeydew melon, pineapples, bananas, sponge cake, vanilla, mocha, notes of coconut flakes and toasted oak.
Palate : peaches, pears, melons, coconuts, apple pie sprinkled with cinnamon, lime jam, vanilla, toffee, white tea and a touch of oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of tropical fruits, sweet bread, sugared almonds, vanilla, cinnamon and white pepper.
