Clydeside Distillery was established in 2017, is based in Glasgow and the driving force behind the project was Tim Morrison.
The son of Stanley P. Morrison, a famous whisky broker who bought the Bowmore distillery in 1963 and created Morrison Bowmore Distillers. The plant is located on the River Clyde, in a building that housed a pumping station, interestingly, one of its designers was Tim Morrison's great-great-grandfather, John Morrison. The Clydeside Distillery is equipped with one pair of stills and can produce 500,000 liters of distillate per year. The first edition of the local single malt, Clydeside Stobcross, hit the market in 2021. The whisky was distilled from 100% Scottish barley and aged in American and European oak barrels.
Aroma: barley malt, toffee, a drop of honey, apples, pears, pineapples, lemon peel and delicate floral and herbal notes.
Taste: light and fresh, apples, mango, pineapple, a handful of fresh herbs, white pepper, ginger and a bit of hay.
Finish: medium long, with notes of country orchard fruit, honey, vanilla, pepper, hay and charred oak.
