Built in 1830 by the MacAskill brothers, Talisker Distillery is based on the Isle of Skye, the largest and most northerly of the Inner Hebrides.
This is a medium-sized distillery, equipped with five stills, can produce 3.3 million liters of distillate per year. In the new century, Talisker has recorded a huge sales dynamics, partly thanks to aggressive marketing by Diageo. It increased by several hundred percent, to reach 3.3 million bottles in 2020, which places the brand in ninth place in the single malt category sales statistics. Talisker 30 years old debuted in 2006 and has experienced annual limited editions since then. In 2017, it was matched from bourbon and sherry casks and numbered 9,078 bottles.
Nose: fruity, slightly smoky, oranges, pineapples, papaya, mango, honey, marzipan, licorice, white pepper, cardamom, a touch of anise, a breath of sea breeze and a trace of wax.
Palate: tropical fruits enveloped in peat smoke and salty breeze, maple syrup, honeyed nuts, lemon peel, white pepper, cinnamon, licorice, traces of camphor and oak.
Finish : very long, with notes of tropical fruits, pepper and salt, nuts, ginger, peat smoke and oak.
