Fèis Ìle (Islay Festival of Whisky and Music) is an annual event organised by the islanders since 1986.
It promotes Islay, its culture and historical heritage. Each of the local distilleries takes an active part in the event, usually honouring visitors with the opportunity to purchase a limited edition of the whisky. This Bowmore was offered to Fèis Ìle attendees in 2014. The whisky was sourced mainly from first-fill bourbon casks and bottled at cask strength (56.1% abv) and without chill filtration in an edition of 1,000 bottles.
Nose: barley malt, peat smoke, vanilla, milk fudge, roasted peanuts, golden syrup, apples, pears, lemons, forest floor, a touch of allspice and a trace of cedar.
Palate : peat smoke and ash, vanilla, honey, caramel, milk chocolate, toffee, salted caramel, red berries, lemon pepper and a hint of sea breeze.
Finish : quite long, with notes of peat smoke, vanilla, caramel, smoked meat, roasted nuts and oak.
