Single Malt Peat's Beast debuted in August 2011 in the Fox Fitzgerald Whisky Trading Company offering.
The company was founded a year earlier by Eamonn Jones, previously a manager at Ian Macleod Distillers and Whyte & Mackay, and is now owned by Eamonn Jones and Aidan Smith. Peat's Beast was the company's first whisky, with a 5,000-bottle release. The 30-year-old version presented here is for super-premium whisky lovers. This Batch Strength release was bottled at 50.6% abv and unchill-filtered in 2021, with just 1,752 bottles released.
Nose : peat smoke, sea salt, damp sand and shells, dried seaweed, toffee, vanilla, lemon and orange peel, quince jam, herbal blend and oak.
Palate: peat smoke, seaweed salad, smoked seafood, vanilla, salted caramel, grapefruit, blood oranges, gooseberries, white pepper, a touch of anise and oak.
Finish : long, with notes of peat smoke, sea breeze, salted nuts, vanilla, toffee, herbs and oak.
