Product description

The history of Dictador rum begins in 1751, when Severo Arango Ferro arrived in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, to control and strengthen trade between Spain and its overseas colony.

Thanks to his knowledge and strength, he quickly gained the nickname Dictador. Charmed by the taste and elegance of the rum he produced, he became the largest producer and seller of this drink. 160 years later, in 1913, Dictador's descendant founded the Destileria Columbiana company, becoming the best rum producer in the Caribbean region after many years. The third generation of the Arango family created the Dictador Europe project, starting the international expansion of this brand.

Dictador Generations en Lalique 1976 is a tribute to the Parra family, who have been making rum since 1913, and whose third generation is producing the finest aged Colombian rums. The 1976 blend, housed in a crystal decanter, is the work of Hernan Parra, Dictador's master blender, and his father Dario Parra. The series is limited to 300 individually numbered rums aged in American oak bourbon and port barrels. The decanter was designed and made by the French company Lalique, one of the most renowned producers of luxury crystal glass artifacts. This rum debuted in March 2021, and the decanter with the number zero, offered by Sotheby's, was auctioned for £30,000, making it one of the most expensive bottles of rum in the world.

Nose: Freshly polished wood, leather notes, ripe plums and a touch of cloves. Cocoa powder notes transition into multi-layered accents of bird cherry, nutmeg, cinnamon, a hint of mahogany, grilled pineapple and a hint of rose petals.

Palate : Initial deep note of dark chocolate, tanned orange peel, cloves. Then nutmeg, oak dryness, leather and vanilla from Madagascar. Additional dimension is given by notes of coffee and anise. Harmony of fruity sweetness and earthy spices.

Finish : Smoky notes of toasted tobacco leaves, oak spices, sweet raisins, compote plums, dates and fig leaves. Finally, notes of dark chocolate and earthy oak spices.
