The name of the Rum Black Tot refers to the day when the custom of giving sailors a daily ration of rum was abandoned.
It was July 31, 1970, and sailors called it Black Tot Day.
Black Tot Demerara 40yo is a vintage rum, distilled in 1975. It was produced at the Diamond Distillery (Demerara Distillers), the only distillery in Guyana still in operation. It is a molasses-based rum, distilled in a pot still from the Port Mourant distillery. Bottled without dilution (cask strength) in a single cask edition, limited to 300 bottles.
Nose: Licorice, anise, black olives, cigar smoke, pine, citrus, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Palate : Toffee, olive oil, cherries, cigar smoke, burnt oak, raisins, blackcurrants.
Finish : Long, complex.
