Product description
Connoisseurs Choice is one of the oldest whisky series in the Gordon & MacPhail portfolio.
It made its debut in the mid-1960s, thanks to George Urquhart, a second-generation member of the Gordon & MacPhail family and a great whisky visionary. Today, more than half a century later, Connoisseurs Choice is still a successful competitor in the single malt market and has its devoted fans. The Bruichladdich presented here was added to the series on 15 March 2021 as Batch #21/063. Distilled in 1990, the whisky spent more than three decades in a refill sherry hogshead cask (no. 3000), and was bottled at cask strength (51.9% abv) and without chill filtration in an edition of 228 bottles. (G&M tasting note.)
Nose: Stewed dates and fragrant orange peel clash with notes of ginger; followed by brown sugar and toffee and honeydew honey.
Taste: sweet and mild, baked apples, marzipan, Christmas fruit cake, some autumn spices interwoven with cherries and cocoa powder.
Finish: medium long, a combination of nutty and oak notes.
