Product description
In 2019, Laphroaig Distillery launched The Ian Hunter Story, a collectible whisky series dedicated to the last member of the founding family (the Johnsons), who managed the distillery from 1908-1954.
The first volume was called "Unique Character" and contained a 30-year-old whisky aged in fresh American white oak barrels, the second ("Building on Icon") was released a year later as a 30-year-old aged in sherry barrels. 2021 brought the third part of the work ("Source Protector"), and it is embodied by a 33-year-old single malt aged in refilled bourbon barrels. The whisky was bottled at cask strength (49.9% abv), and the edition numbered, like its predecessors, 4,800 bottles.
