Product description
The Admiral Rodney brand was named after Admiral George Rodney, hero of the Battle of the Saints in 1782, in which he defeated the French fleet and secured British dominance in the Caribbean.
The rum is made on the island of St. Lucia, by St. Lucia Distillers. The company was founded in 1972 by combining the last two rum distilleries left on the island, Dennery and Roseau. Today, sugar cane plantations on St. Lucia have been replaced by banana plantations, so St. Lucia Distillers is forced to import sugar cane from Guyana.
Admiral Rodney Officer's Release No. 2 is the second edition of the limited edition series. It is a molasses-based rum, distilled in 2009 in a column still and matured for 11 years in American bourbon barrels. The rum was then transferred to European oak barrels that had previously matured Irish whiskey. This final maturation stage lasted 9 months, and the entire maturation took place in the tropical climate of St. Lucia. Limited edition to 5,000 bottles.
