Product description
The small Caribbean island of Trinidad once boasted as many as 50 rum factories.
The Caroni Distillery was founded in 1918 on the site of an old sugar mill. The distillery operated both traditional stills and column stills, and the rum produced there was heavy, just right for supplying the British Navy. In 2001, the distillery was sold to Angostura and closed for good a year later. Caroni rum was given a second life by Luca Gargano's visit to Trinidad in 2004, when he discovered a forgotten warehouse of barrel-aged rum.
Caroni 2000 17 Years High Proof is another edition of high-proof rums from the Caroni distillery and bottled by Velier. The rum was created in 2000 on a molasses base and spent 17 years maturing in American oak bourbon barrels. Limited edition to 1,704 bottles for the European market and 2,892 bottles for the American market.
