Jack Daniel, the creator of the most popular and collectible American whiskey, was no globetrotter; his daily duties as a distillery owner prevented him from traveling. However, he had a vision that one day his whiskey would be available in every corner of the world. To fulfill this vision, Brown-Forman Corporation, the owner of the brand, created the Tennessee Travelers edition, for exclusive distribution in Travel Retail stores. There, in 2021, two extremely different whiskeys debuted – Bold & Spicy and Sweet & Oaky.
The latter, distilled from a mash of 80% corn, 12% malted barley and 8% rye, was aged in fresh, charred American oak barrels and bottled at 107 proof ( 53.5% abv).
Nose: sweet with pleasant notes of oak, vanilla pudding, caramel, popcorn, milk fudge, bananas and a pinch of cinnamon.
Palate: lots of caramel and vanilla, toffee, maple syrup, sugared peanuts, banana cake, burnt bread crust, a hint of licorice and charred oak.
Finish: quite long, with notes of burnt sugar, corn, vanilla, caramel, a pinch of sweet spices and oak.
