Product description
Glenfarclas The Family Casks collection was launched in 2007 and featured whiskies from the finest casks the distillery had in stock, bottled in its natural state.
It consisted of 43 bottles, each bottle containing whisky from a different vintage, distilled between 1952 and 1994. The Family Casks was a unique edition, without its likes, offering a cross-section of the distillery's 43-year history. The whisky presented here is a continuation of this ambitious project, part of a new stage of The Family Casks collection - distilled in 1953, it spent 58 years in a sherry butt (no. 1675), the contents of which on June 26, 2012 translated into 408 bottles of cask strength whisky (49.6% abv).
Manufacturer's note:
"The whisky needs a bit of a "breathe" to release the full richness of its aromatic and flavor palette. Surprisingly fresh nose, for a 58-year-old, the aromas change and intertwine constantly, a basket of fruit, vanilla, a chocolate shop, maple syrup and spices.
Quite spicy flavour, light sherry sweetness and a great balance between almost six decades spent in the barrel, sweetness, nuts and dried fruit.
The finish is quite short but rich, rather sweet with distinct notes of toffee-coated apples. This wonderful whisky comes from our oldest family stocks.”
