How is Benriach The Twenty One made?
Traditional barley mashing and distillation methods create a smooth, fruity flavour with a hint of barley sweetness – the hallmark of BenRiach 21 YO.
Time is an extremely important element – BenRiach 21 YO matures for at least 21 years in four types of casks: bourbon, Pedro Ximénez sherry, red wine and first-fill oak casks (virgin oak cask).
All details, even the smallest ones, have a noticeable impact on the unique final effect, which is BenRiach 21 YO whisky bottled at 46%.
The history of the Benriach brand
Adventurer and entrepreneur John Duff founded BenRiach Distillery in 1898.
This distillery is located in the heart of Speyside, Scotland: in the north-east Morayshire region.
The BenRiach philosophy is a creative approach to whisky distillation, barrel maturation and blending.
BenRiach distills three distinct styles of whisky, matured in different types of casks: classic unpeated, Highland peated-smoked and small batch triple distilled whisky.
BenRiach has such an extraordinary taste thanks to several factors. It is a unique distillation method, focused on extracting fruity notes in the whisky, water rich in minerals, but also the production of malt directly in the distillery and the use of barley from local crops.
