Single malt Millstone comes from the Dutch Zuidam Distillery, built in 1975 by Fred van Zuidam.
Originally, the distillery was equipped with one small alembic and was supposed to produce top-notch liquors, but the first dozen years brought more disappointments than successes, and it is only since 1989 that its products have found consumer recognition. Zuidam is currently equipped with five alembics and produces 280,000 annually. liters of pure alcohol. Millstone Sherry Cask 12 years old is a whisky aged for 8 years in fresh American oak casks and finished for at least 4 years in Oloroso sherry casks.
Aroma: strong notes of sherry, raisins, dried figs and prunes, raspberries, toffee, mocha, oak, traces of pine needles and forest floor.
Taste: lots of sherry, dark chocolate, dried blueberries and plums, raisins, bitter orange jam, a touch of pepper and nutmeg and subtle oak tones in the background.
Finish: quite long, with notes of coffee, raisins, nutmeg, toffee and oak.
