Product description
In September 2021, the "blend wizards" of Compass Box Whisky Company proposed the Orchard House edition (roughly "Cottage in the Orchard"), composed mainly of single malts purchased fresh from distillation and aged in their own barrels.
The formula includes: Linkwood aged in first-fill bourbon casks (39%); Clynelish aged in first-fill bourbon casks (29%); Benrinnes from similar casks (20%); a single malt distilled near Aberlour aged in Oloroso sherry butts (8%); Caol Ila aged in first-fill bourbon casks (2%) and the remaining 2% Highland Blended Malt, blended from Glen Moray, Tomatin and Balmenach malts and finished in toasted French oak casks. Orchad House is bottled naturally and without chill filtration at 46% abv.
Aroma : intensely fruity, apples, pears, peaches, grapes, lemons, summer meadow, vanilla, honeycomb, buttery croissant, mint leaf and a fleeting trace of smoke.
Palate: mild, apples, peaches, pears, greengages, pineapples, vanilla, milk fudge, honey, green tea, notes of ginger and nutmeg.
Finish: medium long, with notes of country orchard fruit, honey, vanilla, a touch of fresh herbs and a trace of smoke.
