Product description
The construction of Tsunuki Distillery, the second distillery of Hombo Shuzo, started in December 2015 and the distillery went into production in October the following year.
The first single malt expression, Tsunuki the First, was launched in April 2020. The distillery is located at Kagoshima and equipped with a single pair of stills produces peated and un-peated spirit. Here we have Tsunuki whisky distilled in 2016 and aged in first fill bourbon barrel # 3496 in Shinsu Distillery, located in Japanese Alps, in the village of Miyada (Nagano Prefecture). The whisky was bottled at natural strength of 60% abv in 2021 exclusively for the Parisian retailer La Maison du Whisky with an outrun of 210 bottles.
Nose: malty and fruity, pears, apples, grapefruits, limes, juniper berries, vanilla, butterscotch, black pepper, aniseed and a sprig of mint.
Palate: vanilla cream, brown sugar, almond liqueur, salted peanuts, bunch of fresh herbs, dash of black pepper and licorice.
Finish: fairly long, with notes of vanilla, caramel, pralines, licorice, aniseed, lemon peel and toasted oak.
