Product description
Starward Distillery was founded by David Vitale in Melbourne in 2008 and the single malt was introduced in 2013.
In October 2016 the company moved to the new location after being given substantial cash injection from Distill Ventures, subsidiary of Diageo. The investment allowed to increase production to 250,000 liters of spirit per annum. The distillery uses Australian barley and sources barrels for maturation from the local wineries. Starward Left-Field single malt brings together Australian barley and Australian red wine barrels (100% French oak) from wine regions of the Barossa Valley and Yarra Valley, barrels which previously held some of Australia’s biggest and boldest red wines.
Nose: very fruity, red apples, strawberries, raspberries, apricots, oranges, vanilla, maple syrup, nougat, marzipan and hints of nutmeg.
Palate: malted barley, cherries, black currants, cranberry relish, orange peel, dark chocolate, caramel, licorice, hints of aniseed and toasted oak.
Finish: medium long and pretty light, with notes of berries, citrus, chocolate, touch of mint and oak.
