Loch Lomond The Open Special Edition Royal St. George's / 46% / 0.7l
- In the early 2018 Loch Lomond Distillery signed five-year deal to become the “Spirit of the Open”, having taken over the sponsorship from Glenmorangie.
Product description
In early 2018, Loch Lomond Distillery signed a sponsorship agreement with the organisers of the famous golf tournament, The Open (previous sponsor was Glenmorangie).
The 2021 special edition presented here is the work of Michael Henry, Loch Lomond Group blender, and renowned Scottish golfer and Loch Lomond whisky ambassador Colin Montgomerie. The spirits were sourced from three types of white American oak casks (we assume first and second fill and reconditioned casks), some of which were finished in virgin American oak casks. The whisky was bottled at 46% abv, unchill-filtered.
Nose : fruity, red apples, pears, nectarines, cantaloupe, vanilla, toffee, milk chocolate, brown sugar, licorice, traces of hay and peat smoke.
Palate: milk fudge, vanilla pudding, apples, oranges, apricots, mango, licorice, marzipan, notes of pepper and ginger and a pleasant bitterness of oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of vanilla, toffee, citrus, nougat, cinnamon, cloves and a fleeting trace of peat smoke.
