Bushmills 10-year-old Sherry Cask Finish, Limited Release / 46%/ 1.0l

Bushmills has been the third brand in the Irish whiskey sales ranking for years – in 2019 it recorded sales of 9.8 million bottles, while the category leader, Jameson, sold 97 million bottles, and number 2, Tullamore Dew, sold 17 million.

Since 2014, the distillery has been owned by Casa Cuervo, the producer of José Cuervo tequila, which plans to expand the plant and increase its production capacity to 9 million liters of alcohol per year. The Bushmills brand includes both single malt and blended whiskeys, and a separate offer is intended for the Travel Retail chain. The latest offer for the latter (2021) is the Bushmills 10 years old presented here. This triple-distilled single malt, after a basic maturation period in American oak barrels, was finished in Oloroso sherry barrels. The barrels were selected by the company's blending master, Helen Mullholland.

Aroma : fruity, slightly floral, dried plums, dates and figs, raisins, honey, caramel, vanilla, cinnamon, notes of orange peel and herbs.

Palate: consistent with the aroma, vanilla, honey, crème brûlée, figs, raisins and sultanas, pralines, a little cinnamon and allspice, sherry and oak.

Finish: medium long, with notes of vanilla, caramel, roasted nuts, sweet dried fruit and oriental spices.
